A patchwork can hold a lot of care. It can also let a few rooms start sounding like the whole neighborhood.
Four groups report fewer than 30 members. Some cover only a few blocks. Some stretches have no group at all. Their work matters. So do the neighbors missing from the room.
The Commons won't replace existing groups or ask anyone to choose a side. It will connect the whole neighborhood: people already involved, people never invited, and everyone in between. Belong to one group, several, or none. You belong here.

A room can care deeply and still not be the neighborhood.
The same available people become the familiar people. Familiarity starts to sound like authority. A handful of voices gets repeated until it sounds like consensus. Meanwhile, blocks and buildings go unheard, groups work past one another, and shared issues become competing stories.
No one has to intend it. The old model does it anyway.
How the Commons changes it
The whole neighborhood gets a way in.
The Commons will create a shared layer across the patchwork, open to every block and building whether or not another group reaches them. We'll listen beyond the usual circle and in more than one way. Then we'll show who we reached, what we heard, where we agree, and what happens next.
Existing groups will keep their identity and bring what they know. Neighbors without a group will finally have a way in. Shared issues can become shared work instead of competing stories.
