Policies & permissions

Make room for your neighbors.

The Commons welcomes creativity, including the spooky kind. Public contributions should respect the people who make this neighborhood home.

Share with care

Be truthful about what you made, what you saw and the place you represent. Share work you have permission to use. Keep private contact details, identity documents and other people’s personal information out of public photos and captions.

Keep it neighborly

Do not post targeted harassment, threats, hateful abuse, impersonation, scams, sexual exploitation or instructions intended to harm someone. Do not use a listing or caption for unrelated spam. Ordinary Halloween costumes, creatures and spooky displays are welcome; the setting and the impact on others matter.

Respect people and places

Do not trespass to make a contribution. Follow Photo permissions for people in pictures, including children. Do not imply that a neighbor approved a sighting or that a listing grants entry onto private property. Do not manipulate votes or misuse someone else’s account.

How review works

Public submissions are checked before appearing. A passing automated check can publish an eligible contribution; uncertain results and failed checks go to human review. Review can hold or remove a contribution. A failed check does not grant approval, and an automated decision is not a judgment of your worth as a neighbor.

Questions and appeals

Use an available appeal to ask for human review, or Contact the Commons with the page and concern. Explain what happened without republishing private details. Report immediate danger to emergency services; the Commons is not an emergency response service.
