The 2026 Knolloween contests celebrate what neighbors create. Here is how entries, voting and recognition work.
The closing time
Entries and voting close on November 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time (America/Los_Angeles). Availability depends on the season and entry gates being open. A saved private entry is not automatically a published contest entry.
Four doors, fourteen divisions
Places: Whole home or property; Porch or balcony; Door or window; Business; Shared place.
Pumpkins: Kid-created (12 or younger); Teen-created (13–17); Open; Business.
Costumes: Child (12 or younger); Teen (13–17); Adult (18 or older); Together.
Creatures: Neighborhood-wide creature.
The Open, Business, Together and place divisions do not have a specified age band. Choose the division that fits the creation. Child and teen divisions require the published parent-or-guardian permission. An unclassified entry does not participate in division results.
Entering and publication
Contest contributions are associated with an active Commons membership. Submit work you are entitled to enter and a photo you have permission to share. Photo permissions and Community standards apply. A current entry needs an approved photo and must pass the applicable publication and eligibility checks before it appears publicly or receives votes. A held, withdrawn or taken-down entry is not eligible for public voting.
How voting works
Anyone can vote without joining. A browser can have one active vote on each eligible entry and can vote for multiple entries. That browser can remove its vote and cast it again while voting is open. This is a browser-based limit, not a guarantee of one vote per person. Do not use automation or other methods to manipulate the results. Suspected abuse can put votes under review or remove them from the tally.
Neighborhood Champions
Eligible entries compete within their own divisions. The highest counted vote total wins; exact ties produce co-champions. When a division has eligible entries but no counted votes, a committee chooses one champion. That result remains pending until the selection is recorded. A division with no eligible entries has no champion.
The Supreme Relic
The Supreme Relic is a separate BKC jury honor for an eligible place-based creation. It is separate from the neighborhood vote and from a committee’s choice in a zero-vote division.
Results, recognition and corrections
Recognition and additional prize offers are announced separately after confirmation. Entry does not promise a particular prize. Results may need a correction after a vote review, eligibility change or takedown. Corrected results identify the revision and reason. Contact the Commons about an entry or result you believe needs review.
